My company applied for a B permit in October and I still have to receive it. Some people get it within 1 month, for some others it takes longer.

But as long as you've got a job it should be fine

Good luck

Mine came in 1 month when I applied back in February 2011. Don't worry, if all is legit, it will happen. Things can just be a little sloooooooow here.

The Swiss like to do everything thoroughly and in their own time, especially with regard to Government departments. I waited 6 months for a simply reply to a question regarding my pension - be patient. It will come, but in their own time.

I waited 5 months for mine! I started to think it would never come, as people in my office who had applied later had already received theirs.  However, it's worth checking to see if they're waiting on any information.  For example, part of the reason for my delay was that when I applied, I didn't have a permanent Geneva address yet, so they held up the process while I submitted that information (although naturally they didn't inform me or my HR rep, we had to ask what the holdup was). Good luck!

Not having the permit makes for some weirdness when passing through Siwss immigration at the airport.

I'll add one datapoint here...  The contrôle des habitants here in Nyon (where my employer is located) was able to confirm the assignment of my B permit several weeks before the permit was actually in my hand.  I'm not sure if they had this info because I was briefly registered as a Nyon resident or if it's because the employer is located here.  But if you need something, anything, to show that you're not just a damn dirty tourist, the local commune might be able to help.

It took 3 months for mine. (non-eu citizen, registering in Lausanne)

However, as others have mentioned ask if they are waiting for information. I emailed and called to see why it was delayed and recieved an email response of "In order to give you a positive reply, I have issued your permit today". 2.5 weeks later, having not recieved it I called again and was told that I needed to submit bio-metrics (I did not get the original letter telling me that, nor did HR give me the heads up).  6 or 7 working days after my biometrics were submitted my permis arrived in the mail!

Conversely, my collegue (eu-citizen), registered in Bussingy and recieved her pemit in 3 weeks.

When I asked about the permit, and mentioned that I had to go abroad they told me to just carry the "attestation" that I had applied in case it was requested at the immigration check point at the airport.
