Mac help!!!!

Hi all,

I am handing in my thesis friday (hopefully) and I am having a problem in creating the table of contents - it seems like the system of creating this is different working on my new Mac, in comparison to my "old" PC.

I have been able to create it going to level 3, however I need to add one more level, and it just seems I have been unable to do this correctly - it is a minor issue maybe but of utter importance to may so I would be really gratefull of any help on this matter!!!

Thank you SO much in advance,

Caroline

I use office for Mac - just bought it so guess it is the newest version? Dont have it with me at work though but I can check tonight...

I more or less did it "manually" and didnt use the featured tables of content - maybe it would have helped doing this but couldnt figure out how to designate the different titles then...

For each level, select a heading or better create yours. (i.e : My title A, My Title B...)

For beeing sure your applying a Heading that will appear in your table of contents. When your are in total visibility (showing non printable signs), there is a little square that appear to the left of your title.

Then, for each title, apply the corresponding style/heading. Select text, and clic on the corresponding style.

Once this is finished you are close to the end.

Click on menu: references, table of contents, insert table of content.

In the dialog box then you can choose how many level you want to show. Specify the options and then press OK.

Here is your Table of contents.

Still not sure how to get it to work though.... I have my format palet (or whatever it is called) and here I have the different typographies, I have managed to define the 4 levels and I have marked all the headers BUT I dont like the design of the table of content I get, is there somewhere I can change that???
