Macintosh Users
I'm a Mac user and I would like to know how many glocals are Mac users? How many are thinking about buying a Mac? Are there (m)any stores in Geneva which sell Mac products?

Manor sells most Apple/Mac products as well (top floor). They have a little alcove area for Apple.

Apple "stuff" can also be ordered on-line via the official website (German and French).

http://www.apple.com/ch/

There should be a specialist Mac store or two in Geneva since there are three in Lausanne. Someone else might be able to give your the names/addresses.

Verbier

I think there is a Mac store in Geneva, just across the road from Manor.

A little late with respect to the thread. But it's on its way (from ifo AppleStore).

Geneva Store Opening Set for Month’s End

September 3rd, 2008

The grand opening of the Rue de Rive (Geneva) retail store is scheduled for the end of this month, which probably explains yesterday’s addition to the black-painted construction barricade in front of the store–the words “Bientôt ouvert.” Store employees have begun their training, and final store fit-out could begin by the middle of the month. Check a photo after the break.

The worker on the scissor lift are adding two French words to the existing logo and Web address: “Bientôt ouvert,” meaning, “Opening soon.” Thanks to Enrique for the photo.

FNAC Lausanne (and I imagine FNAC Geneva) are having a special sale on Mac and iPod products this Friday (Sept. 5th).

No details in the ad that I saw so you will have to go to see if it is interesting or not.

I'm now in Geneva so I guess it's time to start a little group going. Let me get a little settled and then we can announce something for Mac fans to meet somewhere nice and talk about Mac - ask and answer questions, start or pass on rumors, and so on.

I'll be back....

Computer problems? I can help. PM me for more information.

Excellent! I look forward to your MacUsers events :D -- Somewhere with free WiFi would be good.

(That is, if the community doesn't determine an event for intelligent, attractive, young, well-dressed, forward-thinking people to be too elitist ;) )

A Mac event! When? Where? I'm definitely in too...

As you can tell, there's a lot of interest in this sort of thing, so I hope we have our first meeting soon! I'll keep an eye out in the Member Activities. Someplace with free wi-fi sounds positively divine... this is exciting!

There is a Mac store next to Manor (close to Bel Air) it's been there for a few years, and all major electronic stores (not sure about Fust) sell Mac, but I'm sure the new mac store will be great as I will be buying one in the next couple of months.

However, now that I need a very tiny computer that must fit in a lady's bag, I will get the Asus one (but with preinstalled Linux, not Windows). First infidelity, Mac forgive me.

Architecturally (Linux vs. BSD) this is not a shift that Apple can complain about. Fortunately for you, Asus decided to adopt Apple's totally winner idea of just a single button for the trackpad. I mean obviously ctrl-click is the best way to find the right mouse button, it just stands to reason -- this is probably the reason why Apple has been gaining in recent years. So yeah, they have the architecture, they have the minimalist style. You'll get away with it until Apple produce something in between 13 inches and 3 inches.

A Mac user since 1986 (!). My current wife had bought a MacPlus without a hard disk in 1990 and up and until 1995 she used it for production: I managed to fit into one floppy (800k=0,8 megas=0,0008 gigas) the operating system, word processor (WriteNow) and some space for documents.

Here I am using a brand new MacBookPro, two other Macs in the old country.

Just for the record: the Geneva store will open on thursday, 25th September at 17:00.

Us Zurichians will have to wait for the next day 10:00, when the Apple Store in the Glattzentrum opens (and even wait longer before the long-awaited one in Bahnhofstrasse 77 opens - it's supposed to open this year, too).
