Macrophotography, need help, anyone knowledgeable?

Hi, I soon will be finished wit my Iridology (exam of the iris) class, and I will need to be able to take clear- magnified pics of the eyes. I have some basic digital equipement wich I can plog on USB and then screen it, but I need some advices on the first step, wich is how to take a proper magnified pic of high quality, and seeing if what I have is sufficient?, or what to do and how?
Any input will be appreciated,
Best,
MIke

Hi, I believe you should read carefully these tips from link below:

http://www.snapshotsbymike.com/featured/macro-photography-tutorial-gimp-colored-snow/

Not knowing much of your equipment and accessories regarding iris photography with a digital camera there may be however a few important factors in relation:

- flash (or no flash) depending what part you wish to picture. There are specialist macro ring flash and units that fit to the front of the lens.

- tripod or no tripod

- Modern digital compact cameras nearly all have macro modes and are brilliant for getting really close-up. In fact, you'd need a special lens on a digital SLR .

....

Enjoy and good luck for your iridology class papers

Hi Milord,
Thank you for your input and reply, it is apprecriated, specialy the text part on the link where it talks about the outcome quality of the lenses you can add on, it is reassuring. And I will need a led flash (side one) as you want the pupil to close up for the shoot (the Iris is hence more visible).
What I have is a 8 mega pixel cell phone (with Macro feature), and I found out today on the Photographe group (glocals) that there are gum bands with magnifying glasses that you can fit on the cell phone!, or specialy made macro lenses for cell phones.
As far as the tripod it is well noted. For the flash I can hook one into the computer I would guess
