Malaysian Airlines Disaster

We have so many Dutch friends - we cannot imagine how they must be feeling after this disaster. Not only them of course, but all the other nationalities affected. Our heartfelt sympathies go out to all the families.

This attack does not bode well for the future of international travel.

Im sure there is something wrong in the way some people think. Why kill so much innocent people without a reason. They couldnt call them enemies for they didnt even know them.

Senseless killing, without cause.

God bless their souls and comfort the souls of their families and friends.

Shocking and tragic news.  My heart goes out to the loved ones of the passengers and crew aboard this flight.  Rest in peace.

Wow, a second malaysian airlinaes disaster and the other Malaysian Missing airlines, in March this year. So many lost lives, I think with those odds are not good to travel on that airlines.

I think those disasters are not connected with Malaysia arilines.

This is just a tragical destiny.

You call this a tragical destiny? I call it a cowardly attack by terrorists on totally innocent people. Nothing to do with an accident or the airline.

And these people do not even have the f*cking heart to give back the bodies to the family/relatives. Mr. Putin and his barbaric army should be ashamed of themselves. Shooting it down is one thing, but now even stalling the research and blocking family to get back their relatives is even more digusting. Bah!

I didn't meant exactly that Martin, this isn't an accident.

I agree with you but I wanted to say that it's not because of the airline company.

I agree it is a disaster for those on board. As we do not yet know exactly what has happened I will not start apportioning blame.  _What does worry me though is that the fly zone had not been declared a danger zone despite a limited 'war' been carried out.

Maybe a glocals member connected with IATA or a similar organidsation could explain to us why some airlines were flying over the zone and other (specifically BA and Amercian airlines) were making detours and why it had not been declared a danger zone

Could a reprentative of an airline advise how a passenger could check the exact routing of flight so that he can make the choice of airline

Normally, if anyone is guilty of murdering another person, they are charged and brought to trial. What happens when some person or organisation murders 298 people? How will they be brought to justice?

Our Dutch friends in our neighbourhood are grieving.

It`s a matter of having clear evidence to identify the guilty party. The Separatists have had their time now to clear the area of any evidence. Taking in mind that quite a few leaders within their "organization" were enlisted in the Russian army, they probably have the knowledge on how to "clean it".

It`s highly likely that the rocket system they used was provided by Russia. So far I have not come across news of Ukraine losing such equipment, who is besides Russia, the only other country in the world using this rocketsystem.

From what I have understood, Ukranian fighter planes fly in that region at a height of +-5.000 feet. For regular air traffic the minimum was therefore set to +- 10.000 feet.Remarkable is that after the crash, the airspace over this region was kept open. During 1.5 hour after the "crash", two other passenger planes still flew over this region.

Sheila, I understand people are frustrated and want someone to stand trial for this. I however do not understand your post. If you care so much, try to keep up with the news and you will understand how difficult this situation is. I am afraid, in the end, no one will stand trial for this, except for the Russian people, as new economic sanctions will be imposed on their country. Putin`s approval rate just went to 85% after he confiscated the Krim. Therefore it`s clear that the majority of the Russians will not understand these sanctions and think everyone is against them.
