This is really impressive. I wish him all the best of luck!
I'd have a go myself but I think I'd need a brown flightsuit.

Dave... nope... it's summer time hence our time zone is GMT +2
GMT is not the london time zone. it's the good old Greenwich Mean Time, now actually replaced by UTC.

Not hot, there is not a lot of drag at that speed.
Still on hold due to winds to 700 ft (215 m). Worried that it might impact the ballon.

We will have to see what tomorrow brings. Nice weather but too much wind to stay within the safety limits that they have set.

Pardon my ignorance on 'freefalling from space', but wouldn't it have been easier to fly up there? Like normal skydiving? Instead of sitting around waiting for the wind to drop under 2mph. Thats just torture for the guy, I know from experience which is totally comparable, I waited an hour for clouds to clear on a 14000ft jump...

By " fly up there" I assume by means of a plane. There are a few reasons that come to mind, out of which I will just name
1. there's probably only a couple of airplanes in existence that can reach that altitude (the X15 comes to mind) and
2. those planes would have rocket engines, traveling at speeds that would make exiting them impossible

but do they have pointy noses on the planes?
Is this pointy enough? (btw - one of the most amazing machines made in Europe)

What will happen to the balloon?
Hi Maria, from the official site:
"the balloon returns to Earth. Then, the team will gather the envelope into a large truck, a process that can take several hours."
You can find more information in the site:

Looks like he had twisted lines on opening, and in BASE jumps you don't have the luxury of a reserve. He wasn't able to undo the twist in time and landed hard.
