Marathon preparation

Having completed a few half-marathons already I am planning to do my first marathon in March 2012. I am looking for an experienced "marathoner"  or coach who would be willing to help me creating a personalized 12-week training program (I'm happy to pay for that). I know that many programs can be found in running magazines and on the internet (and I have those). Thanks in advance for your replies!

Dear Catherine,

my opionion the better way is to enroll in a "runner club", in geneva there is "gobe bitume" internet page http://gobebitume.stadegeneve.ch/

they are member of "stade geneve" but only road runner.

You don't need to a coach, you need to run with experienced People and there is only one way: following the road map of the "12 weeks program" you can find on internet.

I've run 23 marathons in my life for the moment, only in following this 12 weeks program.

PS: if you want to run on march, there is the Rome marathon in italy, one of the wonderful in Europe, great reminder for me.

Nice to hear about you

I share Pierre-Alain's point of view, the most important for you is to respect your body and to recover between trainings. The 12-week program can provide you a good basis.

It is also important to have a good hygien of life regarding food and drinks, and adapted shoes.

I ran about 20 marathons in my life. With trainers, my best result was 3h15, without trainer 2h55. By the way advices of runners are very important.

Good luck
