Medical insurance for UN interns

Hello all,

I'm moving to Geneva next month to start a 6-month internship at UNEP.

Is anyone a current or former intern at any of the UN agencies in Geneva who could offer me any insight into what kind of medical insurance interns usually obtain?

Thank you!

Hi Daniel

I'm at WHO and most of our interns just take out travel insurance with medical insurance included.

Hi Leanne,

Thank you for the tip!  Would you happen to know if interns generally favour a particular insurer?

There are bilateral arrangements between Switzerland and UK residents who have NHS coverage, but best check out the paper work with your own GP before travelling.

Dentistry isn’t covered, so get any necessary treatment out of the way before leaving.  If you do need dental care while here, go to neighbouring France where the tariffs are much lower.
