Mobile Phone / Smart Phone Reccomendations?
Hi All

I need to buy a new mobile phone, and am debating between the different options.

I need a phone that is good for calls (I'm old school - I actualy use the phone for making and receiving calls...) but also good/fast/userfriendly for SMS, receiving and sending mails, and surfing the net.

Im currently considering the Nokia E65, Nokia N95, Nokia E61i, and the Sony Ericsson's P1i.
Can anyone give me some feedback/reccomendations about phones?

Any other phones you would reccomend?

Thanks alot

Oded

Hi, just went through choosing a new one myself, having had the same requirements as you. Have been looking at the Nokia N95 which came highly recommended but my conclusion was that it is mostly a multimedia gadget, Blackburry - bulky and inconvenient, and so I ended up with Sony Ericsson's P1i which offers everything I need plus full office applications and am quite happy with it. It is convenient, has a 'real' keyboard while being slim and stylish. Only minus: the battery needs to be reloaded every other day.

I saw that the keyboard on the P1i is a bit unique, with 2 letters on each key.

Do you find it to be good for typing?

Thanks again

you press on one side you get the Q, press on the other side you get W - no need for ALT or simillar function, and although my finger is probably smaller than yours, you can also use th etiny stick that comes in handy. Another feature: the phone also recognizes your own handwritting on its screen.
Best is to google the model, get aquainted with its features as sales people only know so much, then test it; Swisscom for example lets you use it for 14 days and if you're unhappy they exchange it for another model.

Oded, I've an Orange M3000 smartphone which I find very useful for emailing and surfing the net as it's got quite a decent sized screen (as well as making phone calls) . What I do find useless now is the slide out keyboard which needs the fingers of a very small child (something I don't have) to be able to operate efficiently . I can type much quicker with the small pen on the screen itself. Another useful feature on a phone is Wifi , I can surf quite easily without spending a fortune if I find a free hotspot.

I think all phones are a personal choice and it would be easier if you could find someone to swap for a day , you may find that the phone you think has the features that you want is just too complicated or too bulky to use.

Thanks Britabroad.

The main question is indeed keyboard or not, as this decission will help me narrow down the choices.

Im leaning towards the 'no keyboard' option at the moment, as I think I will not be writing long emails from my phone, but I do want to make sure Im able to at least send short replies to mails on the go.

In any case, thanks again for your input, and unless I get some more advice here, I will just have to make a choice, and hope its a good one.
