Moving from the UK?

A wet and slightly miserable mornign to all you beautiful peopel Laughing


Are you/do you know/aware of someone who is moving from the UK to Geneva? I desperately need to bring 2 couches in and it would be very helpful to share the costs if you have any space left in your move. Ideally your goods would be leaving the UK no sooner than in 6 weeks (I have to order them).


I left the UK a bit more than a year ago and bought a new couch before I left (part of a set) and I was not sure how a big a place I would find in Geneva; I was very lucky and found a big place, problem is now the one couch looks very lost in my living room - hence the need to complete the set.

Hi Jacques,


We have a truck coming out from the UK on the 23 March but that sounds like its too soon for you?  Do you know anything about customs and whether we will need to provide the drivers with any documentation in case they get stopped coming into or out of Geneva? We live just over the border in France.

I have a painting that I want to bring over and a large mirror. Any chance on getting that in as well. Can I get a price and more information on when you plan the move or has it already happened? It would be picking up form London (wimbledon).

Our stuff is stored in Shoreham, Kent (near Sevenoaks) and is leaving on the 24 May. If it worked out you would need to have it delivered to Shoreham as the guys doing the job wouldn't want to go into London or anywhere else. They will then deliver straight to Cessy (Pays de Gex), France so you'd need to collect from there that weekend. 


I don't know about prices as only just thought this could be an option so if you are still interested i'd need to check it out.  Also i'm looking into custom laws as don't want to be liable for tax or anything dodgy going on with someone elses goods in a van under my name!

Thank you very much Cath, I will be asking DFS to deliver, so I am sure they can drop it off in Shoreham. I will have a look at customs law as well.
