Music instruction for children

Can anyone recommend a good place/instructor for my nearly 4 year old daughter to get introduced to music in general or to piano playing? She is also fascinated by the violin and guitar. Would like someone with experience in teaching children and preferably english-speaking, though not essential. Should be in Geneva or neighboring France (we live in Ferney/Ornex).

You could ask at the Conservatoire de Musique on place Neuve in Geneva.  It’s very near the Opera House.

They offer courses for all ages and levels from young children to adult professionals.

They may well be able to recommend a Spanish- or English-speaking student who wants to earn a little pocket money.

However, it is the holiday season so you may not find someone until the beginning of next month.

Another possibility is the internationally renowned Jacques Dalcroze Institute in Eaux-Vives, again with classes and private tuition for all ages and levels and polyglot teaching staff. It’s quite pricey though.

You can also find  several other music schools in Geneva on the web.

Good luck!

Since 4 years, the best way is sign up your daughter to JJ-Dalcroz school at Terrasière street, which is the best music school in Geneva. Your child will go to music school in Meyrin, next to the pool Livron.
- First of all, she must learn the basic music theory which lasts 5 years. This is a must.
- From 6 years old, she can begin to learn playing instruments, also in JJ-Dalcroz school.
- About the language, don't worry about that. Your daughter will get along very well.
