Nespresso is looking for two extras to play alongside Hollywood actor George Clooney in the next “What else” television advert by the brand. Applications accompanied by two photos can be made online until June 4. Nespresso says candidates shouldn't be visibly tattooed and won't be paid.
To have a chance of appearing in the advert, applicants should be aged between 25 and 50 years old, must speak fluent English, and must have no visible tattoos or extreme piercings. In addition, they must reside in Austria, France, Germany, Italy or Switzerland.
"These five countries are those where Nespresso will have the strongest television advertising presence," Nespresso director Marc-Alain Dubois told Swisster. The company is looking for a man and a woman.
Since the casting was announced and applications on line were opened on Wednesday evening, several thousand people had already applied, including 500 from Switzerland.
Once selected, the privileged duo, who will play non-speaking roles, will generally have to do as they are told. They will be unpaid, and are expected to participate as an extra for 12 hours per day during the entire shooting.
On the brighter side, the lucky candidates can rub shoulders with George Clooney. A business class flight or first class train fare will also be provided to and from the set, as well as accommodation in “one of Milan’s leading design hotels”. Whether or not Clooney will be a guest at the same hotel is unknown.
This is the third Nespresso advert in the series “What else?”, all of which feature the star of Ocean’s Thirteen. Clooney is also an advertising icon for Omega watches, and recently appeared in one of the Swiss company’s campaigns to recruit watchmakers. Omega told Swisster that the advert generated a great deal of interest. Clooney liked “cutting-edge advertising” and was therefore perfect for the “teaser”, it added.
