New Year's in or around Geneva...what to do?

Hi@all!

I really hope you can help me... This is my (and also my boyfriend's) first New Year's eve in Geneva. We invited some friends over from abroad, but now we figured that we have no clue where to go or what to do on New Year's eve. In fact, some people told me that Geneva is rather dead during those days. I also checked the availability of some chalets/hotels in the mountains. But everything was booked, so I guess I was about half a year to late :-S!

However, does anyone of you know about a great party in or somewhere close to Geneva? Or do you know by any chance somebody who still has a room for 4 persons somewhere close to a skiing area?

I'm thankful for any advice that you might have!

I've exactly the same problem. My friends are coming to visit me and I still have no idea how to make this day unforgettable!

Hi!

You said it right - about half a year too late! That's Swiss organization for you...

Well, I discovered recently this site and found it very interesting:

www.bnb.ch - a tiny url for big promises!

Check it out! Also if I may give you a little tip: you have 100% more chances to get accommodation in the mountains nearby the 'main' resorts - only made for chalet owners and very wealthy tourists booking their 5 star hotels a year in advance. The tiny little villages around might seem less sexy but they often are 5 minutes drive away from the core, cheaper with a lot more space for a bunch of friends to enjoy the holidays ;)

All the Best!! Good luck!

I have a chalet in Haute Nendaz... 5 bedrooms, sleeps 11 (4 doubles and a kids bunk room for 3)... fully fitted kitchen, 3 bath rooms, 2 sitting rooms, (one with bar and home cinema etc)...

The chalet overlooks the village, in a quiet location, 500m from the Nendaz telecabin , or 300m for the ski bus to Siviez (super nendaz).

Its still available over both the New year period.

www.nendaz.ch

At NY Nendaz has a huge street party, with about 3 clubs offering open air street club/disco experiences... also fireworks. (you can join in, or watch it all from the chalet)

Have a look at the ski area via the website above (same as Verbier) and if you're interested I can forward some more info and prices via PM.

Nendaz is great for both beginners and experts alike... both skiing and boarding (in fact with the latter it hosts one of the X-games on the world championship agenda).

Pls note the chalet is not well positioned for handicapped or disabled visitors.

I attach a selection of pics as a taster....
