We are thinking about buying a new car: the prices here at the local dealer, who has a monopoly, are outrageous, therefore we think perhaps we will do a little on-line shopping in perhaps Germany, Denmark, Czech Rep. Has anyone taken the plunge and done just that please? NB that we actually live in France, but are thinking about a Skoda Superb. Thanks in advance for all informed opinions/advice.

Note that if you live in France and buy the car anywhere else in EU you'll have to pay a tax when registering it in France, besides the registration tax. Cars have a special treatment in the EU legislation due to the amount of taxes the states levy on car sales. It doesn't really matte if the car is new or second-hand, you're only exempted from that special tax if the car has been yours for longer than 1 year.
