No need to apologize for any minor spelling hiccups.  What matters is that you posted information that some folk might otherwise have missed.

So thanks for your care and concern --- and mind how you go on all those walks and runs.

Here we go again....

BAG puts other countries on the quarantine list:

Anyone entering Switzerland from the Czech Republic, the Netherlands, Great Britain, Egypt or Malawi must now also submit to a ten-day quarantine and a negative corona test. The BAG communicated this on Saturday evening. This applies to all passengers.

I'm a bit confused about this requirement for people entering Swizterland from one of the countries in the list with "variants of concern":

In addition, a PCR or rapid antigen test must be conducted between day 4 and 7 after entry. The cantonal authority must be informed of the result of the second test and the number of the entry form must be sent.

(source: https://www.bag.admin.ch/bag/en/home/krankheiten/ausbrueche-epidemien-pandemien/aktuelle-ausbrueche-epidemien/novel-cov/empfehlungen-fuer-reisende/quarantaene-einreisende.html)

I understand that even if the second test, between days 4-7, is negative, you still have to quarantine the full 10 days, right? So what is the purpose of that second test ... does it mean that if it is possitive they can extend the quarantine for 10 days from that date? Or what's its purpose and implications? It is not explained anywhere ...

Come on, think about it.... not the letter of the rules but the reason behind the rules.

So you arrive, you do your test 4 to 7 days after you arrive, its negative, but you continue ten days of quarantine from the day you arrive because this new variant is still unknown and the world is being cautious.  Or, you arrive, you do your test between days 4 and 7 and its positive... well then you need to self isolate for as long as it takes becuase you are ill.  Each canton has its own rules about how long you need to isolate when you are ill, details below:

https://www.bag.admin.ch/bag/en/home/krankheiten/ausbrueche-epidemien-pandemien/aktuelle-ausbrueche-epidemien/novel-cov/isolation-und-quarantaene.html

Re: New rules when entering Switzerland

Announcements; a few minutes ago from the Swiss Federal Government.

Breaking news:

Entry - quarantine lifted, mandatory testing increased: the Federal Council also changed the entry requirements at its meeting. All countries are removed from the quarantine list. In order to prevent the introduction of the new Omikron variant as far as possible, a test is now mandatory for all entries into Switzerland - also for vaccinated and recovered people. In addition to a PCR test before entry, a second test (PCR test or rapid antigen test) must be carried out between the fourth and the seventh day after entry. The test costs must be borne by the immigrants themselves. Non-vaccinated third-country nationals from high-risk countries or regions will be refused entry into Switzerland. Entry for the purpose of gainful employment or in cases of hardship are excluded.

If you're entering Switzerland from tomorrow on, you need:

- PCR test before departure, to present at arrival

- PCR / antigen rapid test between day 4-7 in CH

This goes also for fully vaccinated / recovered people. Tests have to be paid by yourself.

Does this replace the rule that you had to isolate after 10 days even if vaccinated?
