Hi people!
New year is approaching, and so I would like to collect ideas about it.
Anyone is planning to pass the new year in Geneva+Lausanne? What are you planning to do? (or what would you like to do?)
ciao

Last year on the 31th of December, I took part in a demonstration with the slogan "no to 2007!" We were asking for the immediate withdrawal of the project to skip from 2006 to 2007. It was quite fun, although our very moderate and sensible revendication was not accepted.
This movment against year changes started in France in 2005 and gains momentum internationally. See http://www.fonacon.net/
On the 31th December I'll probably demonstrate against 2008! No to forward escapism! Let's stay in 2007!

1981? It means we have to give up Glocals, the Net, mobile phones, Zidane, the CDs of Renaud Garcia-Fons and Fatih Akin’s movies! No way, let’s stay in 2007!
There is a short story by Marcel Ayme, which goes in the opposite direction. It was published in 1943. The governments can see no way out of the war. So they issue a decree, stating that time is put forward to 1960. The day the decree is enforced, everybody wakes up and the war is over for many years. But a remote villlage has not received the decree...
In another short story of the same collection, the government decides to ration life. Useful persons receive 30 life tickets a month, each of them giving right to 24 hours of existence. Some other receive only 15 tickets, 7 or less. Very soon, a black market is organized and rich people manage to live up to 66 days a month!
Marcel Ayme, Le passe-muraille, translated as The Passe Muraille

NO thanks I'd rather move on with life and see what bigger and better things 2008 has to offer me, 2007 was a terrible year for me.
2008 Bring it on!

instead of coming back to 1981, could we come back to 1983?
I liked it so much, and I was so sad to leave it to enter 1984!
and for the next 3-4 years I was wondering if 1983 will ever come back...and instead it was just moving further and further away:(
ciao
