Hi everyone!
My husband and I are moving to Geneva but we do not have a flat yet. Although we´d like a nice one, we do not want to spent too much. Could anyone tell me what are the best areas where to look for a place? We do not have children but we´d like two bedrooms. What are the usual prices? Thank you very much!. ¡Gracias!

is what Geneva is not known for. Depending on your taste, cetain areas are quite good i.e. Plainpalais, Carouge, Jonction, Eaux-Vives, Chene-bougeries, a small part of Paquis (after hilton towards President hotel).

Hi hi
Nyon is a village/town outside of Geneva. A train connects it to the Geneva train station, so it is a manageable commute. I think about fifteen minutes on the train. For a nice two bedroom flat in central Geneva (the areas mentioned in last post) you are looking at upwards of 2000 CHF a month.... Hope this helps!

So, you´ve helped us to realise that we´ll have to look for places around Geneva. Since I do not drive I need to live in a well ccommunicated area (public transport wise). We were thinking of a flat around 1500 CHF... Let´s see what is available.
Thank you very much!

noting here is real cheap.
But the slightly cheaper area are (assuming you don't want to get too far out of town) Paquis, and Meyrin.

Things seem to be rather difficult...Will we find a decent flat where we can enjoy our new lives? I hope so...

paquis that is, but it depends how long you've been here. if you've been in gva for a while people tend to think that paquis seems to a kind of dodgy area, where as people coming from othe parts of the world would refer to it as a livelier part of town.
personally, i like it!

Versoix is a very nice area and less expensive than Geneva that could be a possibility. Trains run every half an hour there is a bus as well.

and don't have a car either, I work in Geneva and take the train to get there, it's actually faster than by car! Just to say it's manageable. And there are slightly more flats on offer in Nyon than in Geneva, especially 3-4 room ones. Contact me if you need advice!

How far is it from Central Geneva? What about the price of the train or bus?

I live on the South side of town and there are great houses in that area (although they are about 15-20 minutes outside Geneva by car) like Onex, Bernex, lully, Laconnex, Confignon...just to name a few. Very family oriented places and very beautiful and safe.
