Renate, there are several "free apps" you can download, depending on what you want, that give you one or more words per day to learn.


Just type in "learn french" in the app store search and a list will come up.


For computers try the Babbel website for a 10 minute lesson per day.

An interesting and worthwhile request.  What I have works for me best is to find words myself and note them and then spend a bit finding the definition and usage.  As there are many words, I look at situations and circumstances and the words I tend to use in English as those I wish to first have at my disposal in French.  While it would seem there are a number of websites, my sense is that you will be imposed word(s) and that may not be appropriate for building effective vocabulary, and perhaps not representitive of the way one usually expresses oneself.  Nevertheless, each to their own see this one: http://unmotpourdire.wordpress.com/
