Orange Contract - To take or not to take

Hi Everyone,

I'm an Orange prepaid customer and I'm looking to get a new phone contract. However, after visiting one of the Orange shops, the offer they proposed sounded to sweet and I'm a bit skeptical.

They told me that I can take the Iphone 5S, pay CHF 40 for the Sim Card, and CHF 100 for the phone then I'd have a monthly payment of CHF 65 which covers unlimited minutes to all Swiss networks, Unlimited SMS and 3 GB of data. The CHF 65 charge would be debited from my bank account every month.

Most of my friends have had similar offers from Orange but when the bill got to them at the end of the month, it was always higher than the offer so I'm not sure whether to go ahead and get the contract and would like to know your experiences/advice.

Thanks.

i would suggest, Don't go with Orange! their customer support is terrible. Every Second day they have problem in their billing system, Currently it is down for last 2 weeks.  You can not see your last month bill online. Orange works good inside the major cities but once you go out of the major cities. Forget it. You don't even find their signals. If you want to move from orange they wont easily cancle the contract! I would recommend Swisscom! It would cost you almost same. Unlimited Calls,Unlimited SMS and Internet. Most of all their service is really good!

I second what brad already wrote, swisscom is one of the best, and if you have problems there is always help at hand.

Good luck in making your decision.

I have had orange, sunrise and swisscom and I tell you swisscom is expensive but so worth it. Orange the billing is horrible, sunrise the network coverage leaves a lot to be desired.

Brave post seeing as how Orange is one of Nir/Oded's "glocals partners" Laughing.

But the best bit about Orange is you get to come to my film nights, make friends, and get a cheap night at the cinema.  Priceless!!

Blatently shameful plug - click here:

Orange France recently sold Orange Switzerland, so they are now completely separate companies. First thing the new owners did was to scrap the old billing systems and try to replace it with their own. There are some teething problems. Coverage is worse than Swisscom, there are statistics to prove that, but as a national carrier, they have to provide a minimum coverage of 95% terrain and 95% of population.
