Great! Like many, I have used Orange a my carrier of choice. I would like to see Orange offer the Glocals community a 'Smart Phones for Dummies' workshop, so all of us who have bought the latest gadget can learn how to better use the devices and the Orange network.

While I realize that sponsering like this is necessary to keep the comunity going, these special deals are anything but special. They are just the standard orange rates.

Guys - thanks for the feedback. We're thrilled about this step forward for glocals, and we're working hard (with Orange) to ensure it benefits our members.

NZphil - true, the current Orange Offers page lists the current Orange offers that we think would be most relevant to expats, but it does not offer exclusive offers to glocals members yet. We're working on these. Until then, we'll find a better name for the 'offers' page, to ensure we're not creating wrong expectations. Ideas welcome...(-:

I wish you could convince Orange to create an online tool where I would input the number of calls and sms i make each month, and the output would be a recommendation of the cheapest plan I could use. If you do that, I promise to move from Sunrise to Orange that same day! :hehe:

Nothing is wrong with comparis.ch, but I don't see there a feature that allows me to input my use and putputs the best plan for me. Is it there and I just miss it?

No, but it would be extremely complicated to make a detailed analysis that actually makes more sense than the provided simple calculation.

Telcos and their billing-experts work tirelessly to create plans that you simply can't compare to other telcos' plans ;-)

You would most likely have to enter every single phonecall with date, time and duration (plus define the "friends"-number(s) and any other stuff (sometimes with a (at best) difficult to quantify value) that get's thrown in) and then run it through the various pricing-schemes.

Most consumers don't bother about their phone-bill to such a degree.

And, above all, as Mark Twain put it: "The art of prophecy is very difficult, especially about the future."

Congrats to you, and congrats to Orange for having the vision to link up with this community.

One feedback point: you have a link to "Orange Offers for Glocals Members" linking to http://offers.glocals.com/Orange_offers_for_members.htm. But that page is just a list of standard Orange products, without any offers for Glocals members. Feels not right.

Apart from that, looks great, and very helpful. Keep going!

I am impressed that you've found such a sponsor while the economy is facing a major crisis ! Congratulation !

I see two reasons why it's really a great thing :

1) Glocals needs such sponsors to maintain or even enhance the service they offer us everyday.

2) Orange is definitely a very good choice, as it's a very good telecom operator and its culture is very close to glocals community. By the way, I recently moved from Sunrise to Orange... and I am very satisfied.
