Outdoor Electronic (Avalanche Transceiver & Cie) !?

Hi,

Cry, I need an Avalanche Transciever and the prices are just obscene (my opinion)!
Compared to any other electronic like phones, TV, Laptop, ect, there is no reason, except a good business, to apply such prices!
Yes, there is technology inside, Yes there is a know-how......NO, I don't want to pay so much Frown (you can read "can't", no worries)

So, my question to you all is :
Have you any "connections", tips, bargain possibilities, shop address, whatever..., allowing us, poor outdoor fan, to purchase such a vital thing for a "normal" price allowing us to go secure !?!??!

I'm convinced others would be interested in any informations ;)

Many thanks..... (I won't say anything to your Boss :))

Cheers

Bare in mind it may save your life... and it needs to be a little more reliable than your PC or other household equipment. All in all, they don't sell a lot of units: so the unit price is relatively high. Yes, they're expensive, but any problems with them whatsoever and I've had no problem getting them replaced free of charge by the manufacturer (even out of warranty). Best quality these days are either BCA of Barryvox. Vieux Campeur in Sallanches is probably cheapest.

You can save a little on the Pulse Barryvox by getting it on-line.

Another website with good prices.

https://secure.netzone.ch/karabiner.ch/bergsport/lawinen-rettung/lvs/index.php

You can get a set (ARVA, probe and shovel) as well. There might be a bit of a savings.

Thx all for your reaction and good tips.

@Jon A : Yes, they can save my lives, and this is this only reason they are so expensive. The Normal price is 580.-, some shop propose it at 480.- and they still have 30% margin!

@ Mauricio, "Obscene" was a way to mention I found those prices really exagerated ;) ....but it may not be "politically correct"!?

@ Verbier : Thx for the links, didn't knew them. still expensive but looks better ;)

In fact, they must be as good as any mobil phone, working by -20C up to 40C at least, as well as in tropical or dry area........and a mobil phone does have much more compact electronic than a LVS.......

Two main difference : the production number and the fact that they are an electronic safety tool.

But anymay, I wish you all not to have to use it, cheap or expensiv!
