PSA > Do NOT Purchase PATHE Friends Cards

A very bitter first-hand experience after years of being a loyal customer.


PATHE Friends is a loyalty program allowing one to prepay number of entrances thus saving on the increasing prices of tickets. What the cards do not tell you is that they tend to expire, i.e. what you pay ends up in PATHE's pockets a few months in the future - used or unused, PATHE always wins. 


My pregnant wife and I decided to watch a movie this summer - only to find out the entries we had in our PATHE Friends cards were void with no option to restore or recover.

I have it and I was aware from the beginning that the credit expires after 6 months / 1 year depending on how much credit you charge if not used. This is similar to policy for mobile phones, buyclub vouchers and pretty much anything else pre-paid. Too bad for your experience but it's your fault that you have not read the conditions matey.

yeah, i also knew about the 6months for like 6 tickets and didnt use 3 , forget about the expire date and as a result lost. But I know about it, as it is clearly marked on the card.


the Pathe Pass= Its like all you can eat Cinema at any of there swiss locations, all the time for one year at CHF 40*12(but minimum 12months)= CHF 480-


They do have like Partner discounts which requires no commitements which I use. And often when using it, I get a tickets stub that gets the next movie at either CHF 8,9, or CHF 10- but its usually only good for then next few days or a week.,


I used my Tribune du Geneve abonement to get the tix at CHF 15- vs 19


Then also used FNAC card on thursday CHF 15-

Recently FNAC has a special to buy 10 tickets in advance at CHF 100- if you have there FNAC Card. But the tickets are good for like 2 months. So im seeing a movie every week with glocal friends.
