The following is the answering machine message that the staff of Pacific Palisades
High School (California) staff voted unanimously to adopt.
The School had implemented a policy requiring students and parents to be
responsible for their children's absences and missing homework.
The School and teachers now are being sued by parents who want their children's
failing grades changed to passing grades -- even though many children were
absent 15-30 times during the semester and did not complete enough
schoolwork to pass.

Actually in the UK the parents are responsible for ensuring their children attend school and can be fined up to £2500 and/or 3 months in prison!
Strangely a mother who was imprisoned for allowing her daughter to play truant , was informed the day she started her prison sentence that her daughter was to be excluded for bad behaviour and sent home!
