Palm's, ok decor, not good food
Went for dinner at Palm's the other day and was seriously disappointed. Nice cocktail menu, had an apple-tini that according to the menu was to be made with lemon juice. Well Rose's lime is NOT lemon juice. If I pay 16 chf for a cocktail, I want it to be good and have lots of alcohol in it. Anyway, we ordered our food....you order your meat seperately from your garniture. They were out of wedges (Monday evening at 19.30!) so we went for baked potatoes. I had a Bison steak that was max 130 grs and served on an otherwise empty plate, my girlfriend got half a coquelet on an equally empty plate. Our potatoes showed up (1 each) the size of a golfball. Got a selection of "the chef's sauces". 8 sauces that were all but one from a tin. 54 seconds later we were out of food and still starving. Ordered a crumble and a cheesecake. The crumble was ice cold and we sent it back, the cheesecake looked like a quiche and had no taste whatsoever.
Besides the warm version of the crumble, everything was disappointing. They told us it was the first restaurant in a chain to be.....The idea of having an American restaurant is good, but serving tiny portions of bland food is just not good enough. Valet parking or not. (On top of a parking btw...HELLO?)

The place is ok and nothing more. The Z Cube was better, but I guess they are trying.

It is certainly not a restaurant that I would make an effort to go to (I work next door which is why I have lunch there).

If you go eat I would suggest the dish of the day or the burgers.

Have to say I think palm's is an excellent choice if you eat like a sparrow and have enough money to waste paying for the sparrow like portions. When i was there I ordered a bottle of Mexican wine but received a bottle from Argentina....at least that was a decent size!!

Heaven is a nice place if you just want to be seen by the "right" people. I prefer to eat some good food when I go out to a restaurant. Alas this is not necessarily the case in Heaven. True it is better than a lot of these new places in the area (Paki, No Logo, Ol? Ol?) but still it wouldn't last 5 minutes in London, Iceland or Scandanavia. Having said that I guess a lot of places in Geneva last as people just want to be seen. Bonne chance!

An excellent restaurant (great food and very reasonable prices) is La Ferme de l'Hospital in neighbouring France.

Was invited to Le Pirate in Ferney-Volaire for lunch yesterday. I heard it had gone down hill, perhaps it had but it is back up to scratch now. I didn't pay but saw the prices, once again great food and reasonable pricing.

Afghan restaurant in Bellevue called Kutchi is very nice. As is Na Village in St Jean. Indian restaurant in Divonne (Karishma Lounge) is one of my favourite places for a tasty meal, nice decor and good service. Les 3 coqs in Chambesy is also worth mentioning as is faim? which is situated between Servette and Charmilles. Heard they will soon have their infamous burger on the evening menu, apparently it will be even bigger and better! It's a great place to go and eat if you are going to No Comment to party and to catch some decent DJ's. faim? is about 5 minutes from No Comment.

Will keep you posted as off to some sushi restaurants this weekend

I'm interested in hearing back about some sushi restos. I need my fix of raw fish without being disappointed!

Place in Versoix was good although very expensive. On Saturdays they have a "box du samedi" (Saturday box) for CHF 45; although not an awful lot of sushi there it was delicious. It is called Chez Uchino (022/755 10 32). First time I have really taken notice of a Japanese resto in Switzerland. Usually go to Annemasse, not sure of name but contact number is +33 450 38 51 12, it is excellent. Will keep you informed if I hear/try any others

is probably not the best one, but I'm not enough into it to really judge, just like to get some japanese food sometimes.
But I really like the place, and it's perfectly located in the center of Geneva (in Confederation Centre).

.. and it was not that bad. Ok, as they charge a bit more than many places (dish of the day 19, coke/water 6,...) maybe we could have expected a bit more, but I might go there again if I've to eat in the area.
