Parked Car Dented -No Note

Just wondering if someone else has experience in how to handle this. I parked my car in the streets last week and someone hit it pretty bad denting both doors on a 14 year ols car previously spottless. I don't know exactly what the next step is. I have liability insurance only.

1) I think I need a good address where they might be able to un-dent it.

2) I'll go to the police on monday to report it.

3) I know in other countries they have funds for this sort of thing if you have witnesses who will attest that the car was undamaged, is that the case in geneva?

All help is much appreciated.

Update- i've just been to the police on Rue De Jargonnautl key takeaway;

1) Go to garage have it repaired

2) Claim it with unsurer [I explained liability only]

3) If damage is > 1000chf they have funds for that and should come back.

Surprisingly enough nothing got put into the computer (no incident report or anything).

Don't know if it was my lack of French but overal a dissappointing experience.

Hi,

it's always good to have estimates done by different garage, in france or switzerland.

You may try to go to Estoril, I have customers that ended up there after getting estimates in different place.

Concerning the fund for your damage, as you don't have a comprehensive cover (casco), there is the "Fond National de Garantie" (FNG) which may cover but wioth a deductible of 1'000.-.

If declared to FNG, I am not sure for the repairs done in france, you need to verify before starting repairs.

cheers

It is bad that the person did not write a note, well it's not surprising even though I always put a note when something happens when I drive or park... My honesty has always paid and I was always thanked for it.

I don't know what can be done, insurance wise. You might need to try finding the less expensive garage to get it fixed....
