Permit question.

I have a Permit B. I study in a swiss university and am only supposed to work 15 hours a week. Now i'm between my M.A. and starting a Phd and I have been offered a dream job working 50%. I come from the EU (Ireland) and there's no way I'm going to stop studying, it's my passion. Has anybody been in this situation before? Should I just ask the employer for a work permit from them and then it's nobody's business what I do in my free time (like doing a Phd for example). Right?

Any feedback will be very much appreciated, thank you.

Hi M

Shouldnt be too hard to change your permit status to a work one if you have a contract of employment from someone in CH.

People realise that Phd studies cost money and as a result financing it in important.

You can usually work with a permit B anyway, can't you (unless you had a special student one... but then they usually give our permit L for that...)

If you can read it (I need a magnifying glass), look at the small print on the bacl of your permit B Smile

@Yoann: i doubt all ''Permit B's'' are the same so don't worry. My permit caused trouble because when i originally applied for one it was to STUDY and not work in switzerland. That's why there was some administrative work involved in transitioning from university to work. I'm sure you're fine, please don't worry. if in doubt just ask your employer, they wouldn't have taken you on if you weren't legal.
