Petition for the bikers - guardrails are killing us

I know that there's several bikers on this forum, so you can help by signing this petition.

In the current infrastructure of the Swiss road network, guardrails are unfortunately too often the theater of human drama for drivers of motorized two-wheelers and their passengers, their families and loved ones. We still had a sad demonstration dated Saturday, November 24, 2012, where one of us was involved in a road accident in the town of Cousset (Fribourg) and fatally struck the pole fixing the slide safety.

En l'état actuel des infrastructures du réseau routier suisse, les glissières de sécurité ne sont malheureusement que trop souvent le théâtre de drames humains pour les conducteurs de deux-roues motorisés, leurs passagers, leurs familles et leurs proches. Nous en avons encore eu la triste démonstration en date du samedi 24 novembre 2012, où l'un des nôtres fut victime d'un accident de la route dans la commune de Cousset (Fribourg) et heurta mortellement le poteau de fixation de la glissière de sécurité.

Then maybe you shouldn't sneak up in places you're not supose to be in the first place. If I'm driving my car on the side walk I will not be blaming the government for hittng a traffic light.

I don't bike enough in Switzerland to know how common guard rails are along roads where bikes are allowed, but I can see the potential risk.


At the same time, the guard rails also serve a function; to reduce risk in case drivers lose control, and in some cases to prevent people (cars and bikes) from falling down cliffs. 


For this reason I think decisions should be taken on a situational/local level, whether the guard rail should be removed, the bicycle lane diverted, or whether something else makes more sense.


Raising awareness for the issue definitely won't hurt, but I think it makes more sense to address specific dangerous situations with local city councils.

Some of you didnt get the point of this petition.


Its not about taking off the guardrails its about protecting the lower part were a biker can get hurt before stoping after falling from his bike.


In some car accidents people are ejected ending injuried by unprotected rails.


So is not only a bikers issue.
