Photography thread (sort of)
After Whovian's idea i declare the forum photography thread open!

And the first theme is...

BRIDGES

Here's two pics of my second favorite place in the whole world. The Humber Bridge in England.

Not the best quality (pretty bad actually), but i dont know how to use photoshop and the first picture was taken from inside a bus

With so many budding amateur photographers on this site ,we should actually have an evening or day where we go and try our hands at photographing Geneva and the surrounding area, I know I haven't explored all the capabilities of my camera.

I love the Millenium Bridge in London:

To post copy and paste the hyperlink into the text box. I use a mac so the little "photo" button doesn't work for me either.

[quote]I have a few bridges but I haven't a clue on how to make a picture on this forum!

So you can go here :

I'd suggest using Maria_'s suggestion of uploading to tinypic and then copy the URL , where it says "Grab your Code" next to your pictures and use the "HTML for Websites"

Wow, some real nice pics here!

What do the photographers think of this idea: a glocals photo competition. It'll work like this:

  • We pick a different topic each month
  • folks post their pics
  • members vote for the best one
  • Winner gets a prize from our sponsors and his/her pic gets featured on our homepage for a while.

What think?

Well it's now the 1st of August, and as a first suggestion for the monthly competition how about "Switzerland", it's the national day today and we have the whole month to capture the spirit of the country and with the fete in full swing there should be the opportunity to capture some great shots.

Pocolocopol:

Thanks for volunteering to make this happen. We can help you technically, but it'll be up to you (if you're still up for leading it) for coming up with the plan on how to make the competition happen.

Mainly:

  • Where participants post their pictures (while keeping in mind it has to be very easy for other members to see all pics)
  • How the voting for pics is done (again, has to be easy for other members to vote and to know which pic they vote for).

I suggest you post your plan on this forum, and then we see what folks think...

Nir

Hi

I am not working at present so happy to help. I take pieces of things and food, not so interested in panoramic or loads of people. Need some help with learning how to use the camera manually.

Here are one of my few pictures of a bridge. Not that interested in the competition as I think I need to improve!

Happy to share my more normal photos which are small 'windows' and I generally take close ups.

Cheers

What if we just change to topic to something more general?Animals, buildings & arquitecture, people, nature...

BTW, I've been told today that I'm the finalist in a photography contest! It's the first one I'm taking part in, so I'm pretty satisfied :D
I think that amongst the finalist photos there are very good ones, so in case you wanna see them:

http://www.peleng.es/FOTOS%20FINALISTAS/finalistas.html

(Mine is 4/16, "Agua va!").
