There are at least 8 chess clubs run by the chess federation and of course there is always the outdoor chess at the park de Bastions

http://www.ceg.ch/ext/http://www.fge-echecs.ch/

I did once speak to them and got the impression that there is no problem joining - simply had too many other things on. If you join one and it is good (ie welcoming and all levels) pls let me know

Thank you, Paul!

(I am afraid that the chess pieces in Parc des Bastions are bigger than I am, so that's not going to work!)

I don't know about mastering it, but if you just want to practice it then I'm game

OK but the link I sent gives you all the chess clubs under the Geneva chess federation.  Otherwise I would think some of the international organisations would have a chess club - so wait until someone gives that list

Or are you just looking for a chess buddy

Paul, chess buddy sounds good :)

I checked your link. I'd say, I am looking for a one-on-one training rather than a school full of kids (who  can easily give me a complex of inferiority :) )

Hi,

I quite like playing chess although I never attended any chess classes. I am actually looking for someone who would like to meet once in a while- for example in a bar/café - to play chess.

Let me know if you're interested!

Cheers,

Fabian

If you want to practice with players ONLINE as opposed to real life, then you might try Red Hot Pawn.  Its my favourites chess site.  You can choose how long is allowed for each move, and you can play upto 8 games simultaneously.

It's completely free to play and there are always people ready for a game.  If you are a complete beginner then it's best to pick an opponent with a rating of below 1200.

if you get really serious you can pay to become a premium member which allows you to play more than 8 games simultaneously.
