Please help... Fr. 200.- reward!!

Dear all,

This is a real emergency and therefore I am offering a Fr. 200.- reward to anybody who can help.

I am not able to work due to health issues, therefore my fiancé stopped his university in Italy and came to Geneva in order to help me. But in two months he didn't find ANY job... not even as a dishwasher!! He speaks fluently Italian & Spanish, and fairly French, German and English. He is looking for a fulltime or at least a 50% part-time job. He's a really nice guy, not a "mafioso", we need a helping hand from somebody! Please... As soon as he has a signed contract, I give 200 francs to the person who helped him to find the job. Yes, we are really desperate, I'm not kidding...

Thank you so much in advance for your help!

Hi

here are some ideas:

He may be able to help in a ski resort. he may get a job working in a restaurant (clearing tables, cleaning dishes etc) in Davos, Zermatt, St Moritz somewhere like this. If I were you, I would call, travelling is of course expensive.

Also, maybe try building site jobs.

It may be easier to find a job in Ticino, because he speaks Italian.

In my experience, I have to say, it will be very hard to find something quickly, as the Swiss are bureaucrats. The Italian embassy may help him?

The other alternative may have to be that he goes back to Italy, where it might be easier to find something as he has contacts (friends and family) who can help him find a job.

These are just some ideas. I wish you luck and hope something will come along. And I hope that you get better soon.

Nora

Ciao Andrea

First of all I hope your health problems will heal soon.

The only suggestion for your BF is to improve French knowledge as soon as possible.

I am Italian too and ohne Deutch it has been very difficult here in Zürich.

All my best wishes, maybe I can use my Credit Suisse contacts to support you 2.

No need for 200 CHF, when you help somebody, you shall donate it with your hearth.

Massimo

Here is a list of italian associations in Geneva: maybe he can contact a few ones so he may find some advice in his quest for a job.

Ciao Massi!

Grazie mille!!

Yes, improving his French is necessary, we know that it's a key for a good position. But this is really an emergency, so whatever entry-level job would be just fine. If you could ask your contacts for help, it would be just great!!!

Comunque, almeno una cena la accetteresti? Siamo veramente disperati...

Tanti saluti!

Hello,

In Migros and Coop there can be announcements for jobs. You also can make an announcement for what you can propose and able to do. It seems that in the universities (entrance) you can find announcements for small temporary jobs.

This may also be a very long shot....... but could your boyfriend try just over the border into France? It may not pay as well as in CH but a job is better than no job. BTW, if he is successful in this endeavour, you need not pay the 200.00 - give it to him instead. Good luck.

Jan 15, 10 14:41

Thank you so much for replying to my post, thanks to all of you!!

Unfortunately, he hasn't been successful so far.

Please let me know about any position you know of.... whatever it might be, data entry, restaurants, grocery stores, etc... As I said, he's fluent only in Italian and Spanish, however he can communicate in English, French and German as well. He used to be a university student in Italy, so he has no experience as a "pizzaiolo." (I wrote this down because some of you knew about restaurants who were hiring pizzaiolos.)

If there was a possibility for a simple office job (like data entry, administration, photocopying, etc.)I'd rise the reward to CHF 300.- but I really can't afford more.

However, ANY kind of job would be just fine, this is an emergency.

We greatly appreciate your help!!!

yes yes yes and yes is the answer to all of your previous questions... this is exactely what he's been doing during the last months.

And as I said already, any kind of entry-level or low-profile job would be just fine. He's not looking for the position of his dreams, he's looking for a job. That's all.

Hello,

You can also visit the website of employment agency like : adecco, curriculum, idealjob, ask, manpower, etc... A lot of job description is in English. In you announcement you don't tell us in which field he will be able to work. Has he studied economy, law, medicine ?  Look also in the "service de l'emploi de l'université de Genève".

Good luck

Hi,

The RAMADA HOTEL for example (close to the airport)used to employ (more or less officially...) people for a few hours/days a week to help with banquets/seminars/conferences...

the language issue is not too much of a problem there, u have to work as a waiter and carry tables, chairs, etc...Most staff is from portugal, some with a basic french. I saw once a south american guy not speaking french at all...who managed with spanish...

I dont know how the situation is now but a few years ago , it was not that difficult to find a job as a waiter in gva just by going to restaurants (door to door) and ask for vacancies...

places like palexpo also recruit temporary people at times (salon de l'auto, etc) bu it would be easier with a contact ...which i dont have now sorry!

i guess u did, but have u checked the job ads on this website ? there was a dog walker for example needed...

i can confirm at university, go to bastions for example (go up  the staircase, ground floor...many ads on the walls)

u may have a llok at http://www.petitesannonces.ch/r/2527

if ur BF needs any help to fill in a form/application or whatever, i can speak italian too.

Good luck !!!!
