Please join me in my Eaux Vives 2000 carpark protest/boycott
I am car-less, and occasionally rent a car for a weekend. Rather than drive around and around in circles looking for a parking spot in Eaux Vives, I park in the Eaux Vives 2000 carpark. It normally costs 7chf for the night.

Well last night I parked in the Eaux Vives carpark, and this morning when I turned up to pay my ticket, I was faced with a demand for.... wait for it... 42 chf!!!!! Can you believe it?! It would have been cheaper to park illegally and get a ticket! The parking for the car, cost more than the hire of the car for the day.

I have decided that I am going to write a firm letter to the carpark management protesting this extortionate fee and I intend, as a protest, to boycott the shops in the Eaux Vives 2000 shopping centre. The carpark may have extracted 42chf from me, but they just lost their main clients (ie. the shopping centre) all my shopping for the future. I will be cc'ing my letter to each of the shops to let them know.

Now I know that the loss of my weekly grocery bill won't make any impact on the shops, but maybe the loss of the business of my friends and I together might.

So I am a) warning you that parking in this carpark will cost you an arm and a leg, and b) requesting that anyone who would like to join me in my protest, email me with your name and suburb, and I will make a list of people who will boycott along with me, which I will attach to my letter. You don't have to live in Eaux Vives to join the protest.

Carparking is expensive enough in Geneva. Come and join me in standing up against this ripoff!

Thanks for reading.

Kiriel

i totally agree with you! the first (and needless to say only) time i parked there, about a month ago, i had to pay 10CHF for about 4hrs! and to think i'd been wondering whether it wouldn't just be easier to park at Mt Blanc... will not set foot there again!

I can understand and sympathise with you kiriel, i live nearby Eaux Vives 200 and usually park my car there of in Villereuse across the road, but after too many times of having to pay the extorsionate parking fees now i give up!

Tommorrow i will sell my car and be done with it! it has been sitting in my work car park for the last three months almost unused as it is too expensive to park anywhere in this area (and in light of the fact that although my building of 8 appartments has a subteranian parking of 76 places, not one of the residents can actually get a place in there!)

So Geneva wins (and the enviromnet too) i shall be on the bus and my bike from now on. (if see me at the Place Des Eaux vives bus stop freezing to death in winter please wave!)
