Question for Americans, or any one really.

In the past I did some teaching/job/training in conjuction with an American company therefore they awarded me a scholarship.

I am thinking about finishing my studies but my scholarship can only be used with an American school and I live in Switzerland.

I have been contemplating the possiblity of studying on line, I heard most US schools do have programs like that, but I need to know which schools or if it's possible to simply study here with a US school without ever going to the US, just doing it all entirely online.

Does anybody know?

I have no specific recommendations, other than making very sure that the school is internationally accredited by the competent government body. I wouldn't trust any accreditation claims on the school website itself, except, perhaps, if you go for Ivy League.

There are a number of US schools with programs here...

http://www.thunderbird.edu/about_thunderbird/global_locations/geneva_switzerland/

Webster University has the largest presence here in Geneva.

http://www.webster.ch/

It also depends upon what you want to study and the amount of the scholarship. US overseas programs tend to be very expensive.

One school I would definitely avoid would be Phoenix Schools which have been under criminal investigation.

Here is a site where you can find more general information from the Chronicle of Higher Education:

If none of this helps, send  me a PM with the area you want to study and I will see whether I can  find more...

Webster is here, graduate classes are at night to accomodate working professionals. (18:30-22:30) It is QUITE expensive.  Per class I pay around 3000 and its 2 classes every 8 weeks, so your scholarship would need to be quite substantial.  For online classes, almost all universities offer classes online.  Avoid the online only universities.. but all state schools, which are quiet reputable will offer distance learning courses.  The "finishing your studies" part of your post means you would be applying the future courses to an already in progress degree, which means you will need to do some research on course equivalency.  This information will be listed under transfer guides.  I went from state school to another state school WITHIN the same state and still lost almost a year's worth of credits, they don't make transferring courses the easiest process.

LEXILLENT: Thanks a lot, I just spoke with Webster and apparently they don't offer what I want to study... (I studied to be a public health official so something like hospitality would open even more doors for me), either way their prices are outrageous like you said, and the scholarship is good but not that great!

TRANSLATOR: Thank you so much for your help, your website helped me a lot and thank you for warning me about Phoenix because I actually contacted them before but I had a gut feeling about them anyway.

Apparently the SUNY system does offer online programs, the lady said I would have to go at least once a semester to the US though, but she said I can always speak with the proffesors and they can make an exepction.... I just need a Zip code in the US which I don't have, though my sister lives in NC state.... that might be useful I guess.

PS: don't be surprised if I send you an email asking you for some guidance heheehehe

thanks once again.

This site will take you to the entire distance learning program at the U- Missouri which would include all of the major universities from that state

Didn't you say your dad was a US citizen? Why not use his zip code?

Also ask if a P.O. Box address is acceptable, those are extremely inexpensive.
