Maximum jail sentence increases to four years for speeding drivers
"Drivers caught racing, overtaking dangerously or breaking the speed limit on Swiss roads risk spending a longer time behind bars. That's after reforms were agreed by politicians to try to improve road safety. Under the new laws, dangerous drivers face up to four years in jail, a year more than the current maximum sentence. Longer prison terms will apply to drivers caught speeding at 70 km per hour in a 30 zone, 100 km per hour in a 50 zone and 140 km per hour where the limit is 80. The reforms also mean that cars can be confiscated from drivers who repeatedly break the rules of the road."
