Restaurant for 50 international students?

Hello everybody,

I am Dinda, I live here since last year and I'm going to organize a gathering for my colleagues coming from a lot of countries, for the summer course here in GVA.

I need ideas of restaurant that can fit all of us (more or less 50 people), good price (student price), good place (preferably with a view or with lounge ambience).

Actually I really like Lacustre (the one beside the lake), but their price range is very high so it doesn't fit our pocket :D

I really appreciate the reply. Thanks in advance!

50 ppl is quite a lot.

You should check with hotel, banqutes & catering department. They can customize your offer, ranging from stand-up "aperitif dinatoire", buffet-style, with high tables and a bar, to 5 course seated dinner, and they can definitely easily handle the capacity.

Individual payment won't be an option, it'll be one big bill, so you'll need to be organised. But you can get an apéro dinatoire with food and drinks included for 50ppl from CHF 20,- per person, even less, depending on hotel.

Only setback will be the view, I'm afraid. Hotels with a view will be pricy.

Dear maria,

I would say around 20-ish for all inclusive, max 30. I want everybody to be able to attend without money concern and Geneva's price is not really friendly.

Nothing fast food.

Thanks :)

Dear Dominik,

This is a good idea. 5 courses for 20-ish is an awesome plan. Any hotel in particular?

Thanks!

Uh, Laila, there was a slight misunderstanding...

Sorry you understood me that way.

I was just saying that a hotel can exactely cater to your needs, from apéritif up to 5 course dinner.

The price for a 5 course dinner will however not be CHF 20,-. No way.

I wrote "apéro dinatoire with food and drinks included for 50ppl from CHF 20,- per person, maybe less"

If you want a seated dinner for 50 ppl, you can get that maybe for CHF 30,- per person, starter and main course, prices going up with hotel quality and number of courses.

A 5 course seated dinner is defintitely more then 70 bucks a person.

Prices are all estimates, obviously, and depending on hotels. It's been more then 6 years that I worked in that business.

You need to call hotels and ask about plans, and what exactely they can offer.

Depending on what school those students attend (in Switzerland ? Hotel school ?) you can get better rates when you have the school's secretary call and ask for rates....

Yeah it was too good too be true LOL,too bad :D

well, the students are going to be here for the summer couse conducted by an international organization, i guess it will be hard to ask the secretary to call to get a good price, but this is an option too :)
