Hi GoL friends.
I was at the Jardin Anglais with friends tonight watching the Beatles cover band, when I realized that someone had gotten into the outter pocket of my bag and had stolen a small purse. Luckily there was nothing of value in the purse, but I still felt violated all the same.
I just wanted to put out a general warning to everyone to be extra careful during the pre-fete and Fete de Geneve. There are obviously some real creeps out there!
Take care and have a great summer!
kisses

Thanks Betz for the warning, especially with all the Fete events about to take place! I know I always feel very safe in Geneva, and sometimes I have to remind myself that the pick pockets are here too. Sorry it had to happen to you! :(

Should we not make a list of safe tips, example; keep your credit cards and cash separate.
The best is to leave with as little valuables as possible, ( a small bag with a tinnie cash purse) All cards and big notes should be kept separate.
...that kind of advice.
Especially around this time.
P.S. Keep an eye out for your friends stuff too.

Yes you have to watch out, two days ago some guy comes dancing up to me and messing around hooking my leg in his.... (while he has you distracted with this his hand is in your back pocket for your wallet!)
So watch out! probably best to take only the bare esentials, i.e a small wallet with cash and a cashcard. I have one from the UBS which is only a cashcard and nothing else, i believe that if you ask any Swiss bank you can get one of these, also handy at the pool/Bain du Paquis etc.
(luckily i was aware of this scam and grabbed the guy and told him i wanted my wallet back! he dropped it on the ground behind me and dissapeared when i bent to pick it up! But he did not look in any way suspect, so be carefull!!)

and here we think Geneva is a bubble, free of all the troubles of the real world. But shit happens here too...

A tip from a GF....
Next time you come home for the night and you go to put your keys away, think of this:
It's a security alarm system that you probably already have and requires no installation. Start keeping your car keys next to your bed on the night stand when you go to bed at night. If you think someone is trying to get into your house, or if you hear a noise outside your house, just press the panic alarm on your car key chain. Test it. It will go off from most everywhere inside your house and the car horn will keep honking until you reset it with the button on the key fob chain or until the system resets it's self. It works if you park in your driveway or garage.
If your car alarm goes off when someone is trying to break in your house, odds are the burglar or rapist won't stick around.....after a few seconds all the neighbors will be looking out their windows to see who is out there and sure enough the criminal won't want that.
Try yours to make sure it works before you rely on it. Just know that you must press the alarm button again to turn it off.
And remember to carry your keys while walking to your car in a parking lot. The alarm can work the same way there...
This is something that should really be shared with everyone.
Maybe it could save a life or a sexual abuse crime
