Just out of curiosity after a strong debate around a few glasses....
Based on your experience of local conditions, would you describe your current salary level as poor, fair or excellent? (average=fair)
Do NOT specify any figures!
but please indicate:
- the percentage of salary dedicated to housing (25%, 35%, 50, more?...)
- if you are intern or regular contract (unlimited, limited, temp etc)
- type of employer : international org/NGO, multinational co, swiss co, other

I work in a multinational company, and have an unlimited contract.
From what I heard, the salary I get for my position (Assistant) is very good, but I know that I am doing a job that is more than just an Assistant. Basically, I think I am not far from Manager's responsibilities, and in this case, I think my salary is not to the level it should be.
I dedicate 30% of my salary to housing. I wouldn't imagine dedicating more, knowing that I want to keep going out, shopping, travelling, having fun, and bare nasty invoices when they hit me ;-)
If I may ask - do you have something in mind or it is really purely out of curiosity?

@Laurianne, thanks for your input. There is absolutely no other motivation than curiosity about the perception of local conditions vs reality.
I know very well what salary levels are but personal perception linked to cost of living is somewhat different and may vary a lot from one individual to an other.
So just to follow on your steps I consider my income as fair for an unlimited contract with a multinational co with senior exec status, 22% are dedicated to housing and it's already a lot (my perception)

Hi Laurianne,
The salary question is always a bit tricky because nobody really talks about it so it makes it very difficult to know wheter you get a good or a bad one...
I use the OGMT online calculator to get an idea what the salaries are in the different sectors in GVA (attention: the results are based on 2005 research - before the lovely crisis). According to my experience, you should rather take the median as reference and not aim at the higher salary - otherwise you kick yourself easily out of negotiations... Furthermore, the calculator is doesn't consider international work experience, language skills, where you live (expensive CH, or cheap F), etc.
