Sat's Beach-Party: Public not Private
Hey all,

Our Beach-Party this Saturday (Aug 1) was supposed to be a private party for glocals / Sindy members only. But today our party producer got a call from the GVA authorities, who informed him the party will have to be public: meaning anyone who shows up - joins the action. So public party it is.

The topic even got a press article (our profile is now high enough so that what ever we do is watched by many eyes. It's a good prob to have!)

Here's some perspective on the public vs private thing:

1. Why we prefer private Sindy + glocals parties (vs public ones)
Cos in private parties we can ensure that the min age is 23+ and that the guests are with a (relatively) similar mindset.

2. Why we thought we could do a private party this Sat on Plage Vengeron
We know The Vengeron is public, and that's cool. However, our producers assured us we could fence-in one specific area on the beach, just for us. Turned out to be wrong. Lesson learned.

3. What happens this Sat at the party?
We'll have a mega public party, with Sindy + glocals members + who ever else shows up. We hope the teens will stay at home tho, or go to Fetes de Geneve...(-:

Re: Sat's Beach-Party: Public not Private
Post 1
Our tries to have a private area on Vengeron were not appreciated by some folks...Here's an email I just received from a guy I havn't met before:

"I just wonder how you can believe to make a private party on a public beach, where swiss & other people go for tens of years and have a nice 1st August party !

I am really disappointed with Sindy's and Glocals behavior as 'conquistador', really shocking ! I think the best way for an 'expat' to adapt to a place is to mix with local people and have a low profile, not really your style isn't it?"

I fully agree with the gent that a good way for expats to adapt to a new city is to mix with locals (I agree less about keeping a low profile, but that's a seperate point). And on glocals, the #1 nationality is Swiss. But when I mix with locals OR with expats socially, I don't want to mix with teens, or with folks who I have nothing in common with.

Re closing time: we're still going for 03h.

As we speak, it's being discussed with everyone involved in the party's production. There's a risk of an earlier closure, but it's relatively small.
