Selling a car with a loan still to pay

We are leaving switzerland in the next few weeks and we need to sell our XC60

The problem is we still need to pay of a few grand on the "leasing finance"

does anybody have any experince on this or do I just pay off the rest now and then try and sell it

I know someone who sold her car after 2 years of leasing.  She advertised on a normal website.  The buyer had to pay the amoune she advertised It for directly to the car dealer.  This is on the French side, I guess It is The same in CH.

I would try the local free websites first, unless you are really desperate :

Glocals of course

Anibis

Petitesannonces

Ricardo

WRS [World Radio]

Anglo Info Geneva

but good luck if you decide to go down this route

Why not getting the end process done through the car dealer you got your car from. The person I know took the lease, drove only 6000 km and pocketed some money out of the value price due to very low mileage.

you take charge of advertising, and you don't loose money?

What you need is sell your leasing contract to a buyer, not sell the car. Having the car on lease means that the car is owned by the garage (more precisely, by the bank who accorded the lease to u). As you don't own the car, you cannot sell it, but sell the Hire Purchase Contract.

You need to have the go from the bank/garage before selling your lease as the bank should accept (or not) the new buyer, depending mainly on the financial solvency (if he can afford the lease, the same check that was done on u before signing ur contract).

Buttom-Line, check first with ur bank if they're ok that u sell ur lease, then u can advertise that!

Good luck!
