I don't know if this is something you would be willing to try but I found this a few months ago: http://www.startups.ch/en

They offer (paid) consultations to help you navigate through the process.  If I remember correctly, the consultation fee is then credited towards your startup fees.

Hope this helps and good luck!

You could also pay 60 chf and go to the legal clinic on Rue Verdaine. They will give you 45 minutes of advice.

It all depends on what you want to do. That is the first question and discussion topic. Type of business is important (are you selling goods or services, how much volume/turnover, to who, where...)

There vare many solutions and they don't all cost up front (and certainly not 500.- !) and you can find ones that don't cost much aferwards as well. If you want more info, no problem

Hi, You can get info for free in "Service de la promotion économique". They don't have a website in English but you can schedule appointement and they speak English.

Depends on your permit and type of the job you may not need to set any official company. You have here right to generate extra income and just declare it for taxes at year end.

Yes, all true Anushka, but if you really want to find out the ins and outs and just talk with someone who has experience of doing business in Geneva and Switzerland, then it is not where you are pointing and what I was getting at.

And it is always useful to know what questions to ask and what to present before you go to the State of Geneva offices.

I wonder if the British Swiss Chamber of Commerce might also be able to help.  Several of their members are in business on their own account and perhaps they could put you in touch with someone who  would be willing to brief you on the ins and outs of your project.

Best wishes, R.

The BSCC may be able to but I'm not sure it is a service they offer. They are, I think, more likely to direct you to one of their members.

The other entity that you might try is the Brits in Business who also provide this kind of service, i.e. members who may be able to help you. Contact Marie Gow at the British Mission in Geneva.
