Depends what your budget is. I find it cheaper to go for a day in London and do all my shopping there

If the budget is low, the flea market, if high, near Globus/Manor and that area, you will probably way more than you actually need...

For specific shops, after it will obviously really depend on what you will precisely be looking. ;-)

Along rue de carouge, between plainpalais and augustins tram stops, there are lots of shops, all on the "bon marche" side, but with lots of quality stuff. on the perpendicular strees, towards champel, you can find more personalized and different stuff, on clothing and bijous. It's a region i always like to walk around.

And also, the absolutely lovely boutiques in Carouge. not the cheapest things in geneva, but still afordable (if you compare with the high brand shops at rue de rhone).

I guess it is for day to day things, the Migros or Aldi are better, in Migros you get the green lables ( budget) for a bargain.. In 20 min u can see who is on sale and which products.

Clothing, well u can swing between H&M-C&A up to Massimo Dutti and etc.. The best way is to have a weekend in Millan or Madrid ..

I don't shop much in Geneva; like Maria I get my clothes abroad (The Netherlands in my case), and I get my media on Amazon or download it online.

The only thing I may shop for is food and cooking equipment. I like Halles des Rives (indoor market near Rive) for food, as well as the basement of Globus, although I rarely go there because it's expensive and inconvenient to reach. For cooking equipment I prefer to go to a specialized shop near Annecy, because the only place I know in Geneva, behind the station, is much more expensive and the shopkeeper doesn't allow you to browse without her assistance.

For furniture and other items, try Partridge Auctions at www.partridgeauctions.com

It's a live and online auction house located in Geneva area.  Great deals on unique pieces.

The absolute best for low budgets is Ricardo.ch

One of the best on-line websites - amazing bargains. Only downside is that you will probably have to go and fetch some of the larger articles. We buy and sell on there all the time - and we live in France!!!

Hi everybody,

I found a new Outlet in rue de Lausanne 44, Geneva they have many brands like Columbia, Sorel, Puma, Asics, Napapijri, and more.  Prices are almost discounted at 50%.

Good place for Christmas shopping. They receive new stuff every 10 days.

It is really worth going there.

I hope this helps !

Dominique
