Hello,
I discovered the trail of the Sierre-Zinal run yesterday, and walked the 31 km. in 8 1/2 hours including eating and picture-taking breaks.
It is a great trail, not easy but do-able if you are in good shape. After you have done the first 7 1/2 km. with 1300+ metres of gradient the rest is rather smooth sailing. The actual race is on 10 August, and you can still register. For more details, see www.sierre-zinal.com/.
This is really the season of the mountain trails, some other nice ones coming up are
Swiss Alpine Marathon in Davos on 26 July (various distances from 11 to 78.5 km.) - www.alpine-davos.ch
Half-Marathon Aigle-Leysin on 1 August http://www.skiclubleysin.ch/
Marathon des Bains, near Charmey, on 1 August www.haute-route.ch/
Thyon-Dixence (16.3 km.) on 3 August - www.thyon-dixence.ch/
Glacier 3000 (23 km.) run on 9 August, starting in Gstaad www.glacier3000.ch/
Matterhornlauf (12.5 km. on 24 August, /www.matterhornlauf.ch/
Alpenmarathon from Alzere, Valais on 30 August, www.alpenmarathon.ch/
The next race in Geneva will be the Cours de Mandement on 30 August, with distances 7.5, 15 and 25 km. www.course-du-mandement.ch/
