Hello,
Thanks to the enthousiast publicity made by Swiss, several glocals plan to take part in the Sierre-Zinal run on 10 August. That's great!
You can register at www.sierra-zinal.com until 4 August. Please note though that this is a hard course, with 31 km. length, 2000+ metres uphill and 700 m. downhill towards the end. So you have to be fit and agile, even if you are walking. The most difficult part is the first 7 1/2 km., where you have to do 1300 metres uphill.
Could all who have registered drop me a line, so that I know how many we will be?
The plan is to take a train to Sierre around 3 o'clock on the Saturday afternoon, have a (pasta) meal together and then take an early rest..
Most of us will take part in the tourists category which leaves at 5 in the morning, if you are a good runner you may be tempted by the runners category which starts at 9 o'clock.
The registration fee is 60 CHF and includes food and drinks during the race, diploma, medal and meal upon arrival plus transport of your goods to the arrival.
There is common accommodation in a big hall (12 CHF) and common breakfast (6 CHF) which you can book when you register.
Looking forward to it!
Bert
