Simple/Quick Naming Competition ...

Hi Guys

I want to pick a name for a new function to suggest for Glocals. So here is a simple competition to see who can think of the best name.

Objective

Fina a clever name for a function like "retweet" but for events in glocals.

Potential Beneft

1- Friends who do not login for a few days don't miss out on events as they will get an email message from you.

2- The events can potentially have better attendance - everyone wins.

3- Glocals becomes even more popular and more user friendly which is again great for everyone.

Sorry if this was suggested in the recent request by Oded about new function requests. But at least here, we could find a great name.

Description

Your glocals friend sends you an invite and you think it is great even for your network. How do you easily send it to all or some of your netwrok of friends in Glocals? Well, you need function like "retweet" in Twitter.

What name would suit Glocals for a function like this?

COMPETITION RULES - READ CAREFULLY

1- Offer ONLY ONE SUGGESTION per comment so others can simply vote on it by thanking you if they like it.

If you add more suggestions per comment, there is no way of quickly voting on one name and quickly seeing which is the most popular name.

2- Do vote on the other suggestions

3- That's it. I did say it is a simple competition.

Judgement And The Prizes

The admin team have the final choice. The top 3 picks will get 3 hours of private Latin dancing lessons from me and life will never be the same for you again. THAT is a promise. And lunch and beer are on me too Smile

The Closing Date ...

When the admin team pick a winner. So if the last comment is from the admin announcing the top 3 picks, the competition is over.

Yes Oded I've just dropped a load of work on you - sorry mate! ... you get a beer too Laughing

Have fun everyone

Hi Bizhan and thanks for the very nice intitiative :-)

So basicaly, you want the ability to forward messages / invites from your inbox to your glocals friends?

Is that correct?

Thanks

Oded

Correct Oded.

But I just checked again: "Forward" (Inbox) & "Send to friends" (events) do just that ... maybe just a catchy name & a bright logo/button will do the trick?!

If "retweets" are anything to go by, this could be an interesting addition (as a name since the function already exists ... what a dummy Laughing ).

I will still honour the prizes though, if you pick winners, even if the name is not used.

I would've said forward (easy and simple), but if you just want a catchy name...hmm, how about "stay in the action"

:)

there is the GLO for glocals, also GLO as in to shine, 4 as in go FOR  it  and  FORward, and thus you have GLO-4-IT, a combination of glocals + forward (the messages concerning events etc.) but hey, that was supposed to be obvious, wasn't it?

I can't tell you whether it was supposed to be obvious -- only you can say what it was supposed to be. But anyway, yes, the part that you describe was obvious, I was just wondering whether you had intended for it also to read GLOAT as a jammy subtext. That would have been good. See an event, GLO4T about it. Never mind.

I like GLO4it from Epicure.
This embodies the attitude that Glocals is trying to put forth in Geneva as well as incorporating the Glocals name.

I was just wondering whether it is really necessary to find a new description for the already existing functionality. "Send to friends" is crystal clear. So why  replace this by something else (less clear)?

Please bear in mind that not all people on glocals are native English speakers and not everyone uses Twitter.

Actually Nir according to a strict interpretation of the rules...

with one entry per comment AND (so far in this extremely high scoring game) the highest vote of 3 has gone to Marina's

"i am considering voting for epicure just to know how the 3 hour private Latin dancing lesson went afterwards."

Nir - Have you a button that big? Tongue out

Caroly & Hayes ... no need to "attempt" or avoid entry to the competition.

You contrinbuted right? Friends: YOU ARE IN!

... wait, don't leave the planet ... it is just dancing, not a life sentence ... and not comulsory either. I don't know where Marina got those other rumours from but I think she may have rumours that I can cook a little ... you guys have nothing against food and beer, have you?

But first you two gotta be in the top 3! So start/continue flirting with Nir & Oded Cool
