My friend sent me an interesting artical, I think its worth a read if there is a chance your going off piste. Not wanting to preach but be sensible and dont surcome to pier pressure. Stand your ground and look after number 1s (your) safety, which may mean doing the normally un safe thing and skiing alone on piste

Good article and a timely reminder whilst the skiing season is in full flight. Still waiting a good cold snap and lots more powder. Enjoy all.

@DonM: have been skiing every weekend since mid-December! You must be living elsewhere than Switzerland.

It's all in the mindset. I have been a few times. The first there were rocks and grass coming through on piste, not good, but the other time was epic due to it raining for a couple of days beforehand. The key difference this year is that there hasn't been a proper cold snap with snow on the ground which, as the law demands, means you have to go skiing. From there I continue on. The mild weather of late just isn't getting my mindset into default ski mode.

The snow conditions are amazing in Verbier.
But they have certainly been a lot better.
Good article, It's about ski touring and heli skiing, rather than going 10 feet to the right of the piste in Verbier. Also it's more the avalanche danger in Valais that is a problem.
A lot of the region has been permanently classified marqué (considerable risk) this year because of a layer of depth hore (sugary snow) deep in the snowpack which will last all season. In ski resorts this is generally managed.
Check the avalanche reports before going.
