Sky+ UK on the cheap!

Anyone interested in setting up Sky+ UK at home cheap?

By cheap I say CHF 30 a month instead of GBP 75.

What I offer:

Full Sky+ UK (in HD optional) includes all channels (Movies, Sky Sports, International channels, pay-per-view events and so much more)

Hassle free service that works anywhere a Sky dish can be installed.

Complete installation service and no Sky reseller. No UK address required. Multi-room and streaming to iPad, Android, iPhone anywhere!

Free site survey (to determine if a dish can be installed) and free demo.

Send me a PM for further information.

If he told everyone how id does it, then he is giving out for free his know how. Its like an investment advisors giving his services for free. As he said, just pm him privately and see what he says.

the Investment Advisor analogy doesn't really work here. You can invest on your own relatively cheaply if you hear a "good" tip, but buying the equipment and installing and setting up the Sky account - less easy

Despite the fact that you can watch Sky all across Europe and the world, this is what the Sky website (http://www.sky.com/helpcentre/moving-home/viewing-sky-abroad/index.html) says about "Sky Abroad," so I'm willing to say that what Haider is proposing is not up-and-up legal in the full sense of the word.

Viewing Sky Abroad

What happens if I move abroad?

If you're moving outside the UK, Isle of Man, Channel Islands or the Republic of Ireland, we're sorry, but you won't be able to take Sky TV with you, as Sky is only available in these areas.

You make a fair point Zonker.

Getting Sky outside the UK, Isle of Man, Channel Islands or the Republic of Ireland is illegal to begin with. But then again it would only be illegal if the law governed all countries outside the aforementioned. The only way Sky B2B would enforce this "illegality" is by not selling outside the terroritories.

So what I am proposing is beyond the jurisdiction of the United Kingdom and Ireland. If you're worried about it being illegal then you would be as guilty if you got an offical subscription from Sky and used your receiver in Switzerland.

Again, thank you for raising the fair point Zonker.

i'm not worried at all. I greatly benefit from Sky TV in various locations around town and in other places I've lived. I'm *glad* that services such as yours exist.

But, some people may not realize the by-the-book legal status of this installation, just like they don't realize or understand that music, TV shows and movies downloaded off The Pirate Bay are also illegal downloads.

I think it's fair to say that 90+% of people don't worry, don't care about such practices. But, there are some people who do, be it moral or security or other reasons. And for that, full disclosure is a pre-requisite.

Agreed.

Although, as per Swiss law downloading from torrent sites such as The Pirate Bay is NOT illegal.

The issue is uploading the downloaded file.

For what it's worth, i've been looking into this since i'm coming to ch in the new year.

Various "TV shops" here in ecosse will sell me a decoder capable of receiving all (except i think pay-per-view) channels and with it they give me the co-ordinates and details of which satelite i must point to..Cost is around 90 gbp + the install cost of the dish. No regular subscription.

So when i arrive in ch, I find a friendly installer to fit the dish and give him/her the satelite details.

We'll decide when we arrive if we go for this or some other local service.

Pretty sure you need a sub to get all the paid channels.

A box for gbp 90 will definitely not have HD and no recording capabilities.

Just be mindful.

I'm not sure, didn't look too deep into it yet..

I guess it must be using something like dreambox, cccam and some card sharing / cline type service and is probably not very legal  :)

not that i know of... your Swiss ISP is a giveaway, and it blocked.

On the flip side, its "legal" to download movies here (but illegal to stream) so if you want a DVD, find a decent torrent provider and check the DVD releases and then most decent download sites will have the DVD for download. If you have a decent wifi connection, or whatever it takes approx 15mins for a 700mb film to get to you.

I like to find good site for viewing movies in Switzerland. But I hate or have had bad experience wiht Torrent sites, so I dont visit them anymore.

Any good suggestions? As I like to see a few  movies online.

Zonker,

About your commnet about legality and morality. Most DVD shop are renting many zone formats. Normally the zone formats are to protect the distributors who pay money for the right to distribute the films and DVDs. When a shop buys zone 1 from the USA , it is infringing on the licence by the studios given to the ditributor? Anyway, i really dont care because im just watching a rented DVD for now.

Anyone can suggest safe movie viewing online? I wish netflix and lovefilm will get there act together, because as long as they do this blocking, I will not care that they are just hurting themselves, as we will look for alternatives.

I havn't tried these services .. But I hear that if you use a UK hosted VPN service then you are effictively coming from the UK and things like BBC iPlayer and Netflix etc should work?

Example free one : http://www.bestukvpn.com/

I used www.isohunt.com they normally have good dvdx files, and if your read the comments about audio and visual theyre normally accurate...dont download any films without comments so you check the quality first.

download "uTorrent" onto your comp... they seem to be fast and get a decent uninterupted flow.

If you can use a wire when downloading rather than wifi...less interuptions that way, esp if you are watching TV or playing online games whilst doing so...

This way I find I get near perfect quality films.

The last film I saw was Dark knight rises, full HD quality... Ted is also available in almost blueray quality... and the first two seasons of game of Thrones etc etc...

isohunt is a complete mess.

As mentioned by zonker, piratebay is by far the best free torrent tracker. it usually helps if you filter by seeds when you search.

for tv shows eztv is another great site. many of their torrents end up on piratebay. their website is better organized.

utorrent for windows pc and transmission for mac osx.

Why not use VPN. I use a US Netflix account with my apple tv.

Shove it on a router and you can get hulu and all tv channel streamings on any pc that connects to the router.

Hi Haider,

Just saw your message about Sky TV 'on the cheap'.

I previously had a VPN and used Sky online account and stremed it from my PC to TV but that was too expensive for the picture quality output.

Could you give me some more information on installation? Do I need to have a dish first?

Thanks

Remy
