So Oscar gets bail - will he make a run for it?

Daftest comment of the day

Prosecutor's claim for denying bail is that Oscar is a "flight-risk"

Defense responds by saying "you think he'll be ducking and diving.......in these prosthetics"

He's so "gone" if he gets bail....

Mind you ...currently the most famous murderer in the world.. no where to run to.

Thousands of people die every day... Are you really so concerned about this woman in particular? Unless you are her family, it's just news.

Yes,agree with you.I just meant that in the sense that some of the media coverage seems to tend towards seeing him as a victim of false accusation. For my own part,I make no judgement.

I think it's best to make no judgment at this point; the police investigation is only just starting, and I'm pretty sure in the end we'll know for sure if it was murder or an accident.

In the meantime there's nothing wrong with a bit of fun.

The problem is that some people do not really have a conscience.

Even if he is telling the truth, he has shown how selfish and how much of a coward he is... He shoots someone through a closed door without confirming who it was. Could have been some drunk neighbour, a homeless person seeking warmth and shelter... his girlfriend? But beside THAT point he thinks his life is in jeopardy and he doesn't find his girlfriend and ensure she is OK ? The woman he sobs for at hearings... the woman who was left alone in his bed when he went out for "fresh air", but when his life is in jeopardy he shoots to protect himself first, then looks for her. He's either a murderer or a coward.

I thought guns are stored under the matress!him he thought the g.f was on bed, then where was the gun!he could have called her first to see where she was---------(He killed).Frown

There are times, not often in life, that I wish that social media websites (such as this) had a multiple "like" button - I could use it here.....

The origin of my original post was, actually, to illustrate the incompetency of the South African legal system and the massive blunders already taken place in the "investigation" - not to be confused with "trial" which will ensure that:

a) Oscar P will probably be acquitted either wrongly or rightly, but it will be on a level of incompetence not seen since the OJ Simpson trial and

b) as a result of this, the Steenkamp family (that's the girlfriend, for those of you paying attention) may never know the truth.

One things for sure, this story will run and run.... and if people want to have a few unpolitically-correct jokes along the way - where's the harm?

To a degree, I agree with a lot of what you say except for the "conscience" word.

It's not about "conscience" - what we have to remember is that this man is one of the most competitive men ON THE PLANET and ergo, a bit pyscho.

Plus, he is a double amputee below the knee. I'm not - are you?

So everything he is doing is on his hands and bottom - he's literally shuffling around the apartment on his bottom.

Which explains why he can't see everything, can't see the bed or his girlfriend (and he said straight away that it was pitch black and he had no idea where his girlfriend was). Plus who said the gun was under the mattress - previous photos show that he kept his gun on his beside table (agreed, hard for me/some people to understand).

However, have you never woken up in the middle of the night, panicked, tried to shut a balcony door (you didn't go out for "fresh air" - being paranoid, you got up to shut the door), heard noises in the bathroom, suspected an intruder (cause you're a world class Olympic athlete, living in a muliti million apartment and paranoid because you've already had death threats on your life)?

I know I haven't - and I have 2 good arms and 2 good legs.

But if you ARE and you're very rich and famous, you may just shoot someone through your bathroom door, on your paranoid pyschotic bottom?

I'm not saying that's what happened - but the analysis of the trajectory of the bullet (if the SA police ever get that far) will determine whether or not he's lying about not applying his prothetics before taking his gun and shooting a prospective intruder.

That's what it all boils down to (see - no leg/run jokes in there at all.....) is

a) the trajectory of the bullets (i.e. what height they were shot from) and

b) whether he was being truthful about not applying his prosthetics until he carried his (now dead) girlfriend down to the waiting ambulance.

Yes "he killed" but did he know who he was killing - that's the question.....

Sleep tight people - and don't have nightmares about Oscar - he's a free man for the moment.....Cool
