The company came back and said she needed her Education degree from the states recognized to make sure it is equivilant to the swiss diploma. Anyone know anything about this? I see this EDK http://www.edk.ch/dyn/11910.php. Am i reading this correct??? They charge you 1000chf for non EU members to have degree recognised???

welcome back to switzerland. is she swiss? as you are, she perhaps can get her naturalization quicker and maybe the cost of the recognition would be cheaper.

As far as I remember, the diploma recognition passes through what used to be called CRUS (https://www.swissuniversities.ch/fr/). Check this website for more info.
Good luck

Yup, that's what the website says.
Equivilating qualifications is a big business. In the US, it cost me over three hundred dollars to have a UK masters equivilated for credit towards my US teaching license. If it was to validate a license from outside the US, it would have cost hundreds more.
It's the cost of having it done. But once it's done, it's done.
Good luck!
