Our webmaster for the section of earth science did exactly the same thing concerning geological news. I so discovered the RSS flux.
It makes the home page more lively!

Glad to see you've got some news here, but I'm wondering if you're also planning to add the GenevaLunch feed, as we discussed? That way you'd get news from all the regional media in English, not just 1 Geneva paper, plus you'd be supporting the only English daily paper (online), members of the same community :-)

Hey Julian.

The feeds are not collected by me. They are automatically sent by RSS from the TDG site.

Actualy, the plan is to have localized news for each city, so Lausanne people see Lausanne news, Geneva people see Geneva news, and so on, but its not easy to find localized news sites in English, so we are starting with the current news, and will add the other cities when we find good sources.

If anyone out there knows of good sites for Zurich, Lausanne, Basel and/or Bern news in English, please let us know.

Oded, there are two good online news sources in English in addition to Edipresse's English Corner, both with free rss feeds: for Geneva, Lausanne and La Cote, www.genevalunch.com (that's us), for Basler Zeitung's English Corner at http://www.baz.ch/englishcorner/bazarticles.cfm. There are several magazines including the new Inside Switzerland which are good background reading but they don't provide daily news. WRS starts Swiss-wide news coverage Monday and they have someone starting in Zurich very soon and a Bern correspondent soon after. For now I don't think they plan to put the news online but this could easily change and their site has a free rss feed, too, at wrgfm.com. That's about it, Ellen

Ill take a closer look at the sources you suggested and see which ones provide what we need.

Seems Zurich is at a bit of a loss when it comes to daily news in English.

Meant to add that NZZ has what they call the English Window, but I can't see it online - maybe someone in Zurich can tell us if there is an online version? When I have seen it I thought it was pretty good, which it should be because if Switzerland has a main newspaper, NZZ is it.
