Swisster: La Poste Braces for letters to Santa

La Poste braces for letters to Santa
by Swisster Staff
December 2, 2010 | 11:06

The Swiss post office said on Thursday that it would be repeating its annual service to respond to the thousands of letters addressed to Father Christmas and Baby Jesus received from kids throughout the country every year.

Last year, Le Poste replied to some 15,000 letters, addressed to characters and places such as "Santa Claus, the North Pole" or "Little Jesus in Heaven".

Six staff have been commissioned to handle the influx which is redirected to an office in Chiasso.

Post office responses include a letter and small gift provided the sender includes a return address. Thus was the case for 96 percent of letters received last year, officials said.

wow, I didn't know the post makes the effort to actually send something back to all the kids who mail Santa. That's a nice (and expensive) gesture!

Depending on what gift they send back, I might send a few letter to Santa myself this year.

Dear Santa,

I wanted to wish you a Merry Christmas, and hope the snow is smooth enough for you to land your sled on the roof of my house.

For my Christmas wish, I was wondering if you had any spare women in the North Pole, preferably ones that might fit down my quite narrow chimney, so it doesnt get blocked because I use the fire alot when its cold?

Im not fussy on hair colour, but they mustn't be fussy over my lack of hair. I'm a nice guy, well mannered, and like to party, so a good dancer will help too.

Thanks a lot, and i hopeyou can make my wish come true.

Lots of love

Nir

Charlie:

I couldn't have put it better myself. If Santa indeed brings me that present, I promise to share it with you.
