Hi eveyone!

Just wanted to share the bad experience a friend (female) of mine had today with the taxi number GE 1287.

The guy basically locked her in his taxi and asked money from a previous trip that she already paid to him 2 weeks before that. Another guy arrived threatening her. When she asked which company they were working for, they claimed to be independant. After she began to shout he finally let her go out from the cab and she was able to go to the police to mention the situation.

She had a similar experience last year at the train station with the taxi number GE 185.

This is just to share and warn you not to take just any taxi in Geneva. If you have (or had) similar experiences above all with these particular numbers, don't hesitate to comment (it would be particularly interesting) or mention it somehow.

Is Geneva becoming slightly dangerous? If nobody reacts, of course it will!

i bet the police said that unless there was a crime committed, there was nothing they could do!! typical.

which means one has to be injured (in some way ) to get any response from the police!

The GHI should be informed as they may publish an article and only then will the not very efficient Geneva police do something! This kind of incident has probably happened quite a few times but we just have not heard about it until now.

You can use this to find the actual name of the owners of Geneva registered vehicles. Cost is CHF 10 per vehicle. http://ge.ch/vehicules/index-autos

Weird, because you basically just call 022 33 141 33, get your cab and pay, and thats it. Plus its hard to have 2 times the same driver...

what kind of cabs did she use ?

No but it means one has to take the time to formally lodge a complaint about it (things that people are quite often reluctant to do because it takes time). In this case, if it happened as described it's in fact pretty serious. We are not talking about a simple fee here.
